WoW Druid Leveling Guide - Talents And Gear

By Johann Wendleton

Druids are the coolest class in WoW because of all the different niches you can fulfill. Druids can tank, heal, or do melee or spell damage. As a druid you can literally fill any class role you want. Even though that is true, when leveling, it is important to pick one path and stick to it if you want to gain experience quickly. Here are some basic pointers.

Talents

Since you have so many options as a druid, it can be tough to pick a talent spec for leveling. As you will mostly be doing quests by yourself to level, a damage oriented spec will be your best bet, so Feral and Balance are the obvious choices. Although Balance has very good DPS, Feral is able to sustain it for longer because it is not mana dependent. As such, I would suggest Feral for leveling. With a Feral build, you can also pick up a set of tank gear and tank instances in bear form. With that said, if you plan to group more than solo, you might want to go with a Balance spec, as mana dependency is not nearly as much of an issue in groups and you can also heal with a Balance spec.

Feral Gear

As a Feral druid, you will want to pick up 2 different sets of gear, one for cat form, and one for tanking instances in bear form. For the cat form gear, you will want to focus on strength, agility, attack power, and critical strike rating. These are the best stats for increasing the damage you deal. I'd suggest focusing on strength and attack power first as they add the most consistent damage, and then move on to agility and critical strike rating to boost up your big spike damage.

Bears will want to focus on gear with more tank-friendly stats. Stamina is your number one priority, but make sure not to overlook defense, agility, and dodge rating, as they will reduce the amount of damage you take, which is always a good thing as a tank. You will also want to consider the amount of armor on your gear, as that can have a large impact on how much damage enemies deal to you. As long as your gear has decent armor rating, a good amount of stamina, and one of the other tank stats on it, you should do fine.

Balance Gear

Playing a Balance spec, you will be looking for the same kind of gear that mages look for. You will need stats like spell power, crit rating, intelligence, and a smattering of mana regeneration. The most important stat for you is spell power, and shortly after that, crit rating. Pick up enough intelligence to boost up your mana pool to a good level so you don't run dry early on in boss fights. If you can get it, mana regeneration will help, but don't fret if you don't have any on your gear.

With the info in this article, you're now fully equipped to level your druid to 80. If you really want to fly through the levels, I would highly recommend checking out an in-game leveling guide by clicking through the link at the end of this article. I've done a review of what I consider to be the best druid leveling guide available, so if you're interested in getting to level 80 faster and having more fun on the way, check it out.
